Stepping onto the roof, I reach my hand inside for Jax just as my bedroom door splinters under the impact of Phil’s shoulder. I lift it with such force shards of glass shower around me as I pull myself up and through the window. I throw the covers off, tossing them into a heap on the floor as I scramble from my bed and rush to the window. With his pull, he could literally get away with murder without as much as a slap on the hand. He’s back? I had been certain he wouldn’t make bail, but I shouldn’t be surprised. My eyes widen at the mention of his name. Phil! Reaching under my bed, he pulls out my backpack and begins dumping the contents on the floor. We have to go!
